The Play Queue

The play queue interacts with the current song list (the list of songs in the right hand part of your main view window) to determine what's currently played. The play queue takes precedence, but does not interrupt the currently playing song.

To add songs to the queue, right click and "Add to Queue", or use the shortcut "Q".

Example

You are in the album view (Menu: View -> album list). You click on an album in the left hand list of albums. That album's songs get put into the right hand song list. If you now press the play button (top left), the first song in the song list starts playing. By default, QL will automatically progress through the song list song by song until it is finished.

While QL is still progressing through the song list, you search for some different songs, (using Music -> Browse Library). Highlight these songs and add them to the queue. You will see the songs appear in the queue.

Now wait until the currently playing song (from the song list) has finished playing: QL will then start playing the first song in the queue. Note that as a song from the queue starts playing, it disappears from the list of songs in the queue, so while QL is playing songs from the queue, you cannot actually see the currently playing song either in the song list or in the queue, which may be confusing (you can of course see which song is playing from the information in the top left of the QL window).

After the first song in the queue has finished playing, QL will continue with the next song in the queue, until there are no songs left in the queue. At that point, QL will resume playing the song list where it left off, i.e. after the last song from the song list it played before switching to the queue.
