Fairy Meat
Fairy Meat is a miniatures game where you play a bunch of carnivorous fairies and run around eating each other. It's published by Kenzer and Co., the same people that bring you the wonderful Knights of the Dinner-table. It's really quite crazy.
Warband
So you've got the coolest idea for a fairy warband ever, but no place to write it down? Problem solved! A Fairy Band record sheet is available here, and a more printable version (in PDF) here.
Items
| Weapon | Def. Mod | Att. Mod | Blocks | Cost | Special |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leaf Shield | +1 | 0 | 1 | 2 | - |
| Mushroom Shield | +1 | 0 | 2 | 3 | - |
| Bark Armor | +2 | -1 | - | 8 | Heavy |
Fairies don't care much for defense; more deaths means more snacks, no matter which side wins. However, they do have a few defensive devices.
The Leaf Shield is fashioned from a small leaf, and provides only minimal protection from attacks. It can block (providing a +1 defensive bonus to the fairy) for one attack each round.
The Mushroom Shield is much stronger, and protects against two attacks per round.
Bark Armor is a very bulky and unwieldy suit of armor for a fairy. It can protect against all attacks. However, it weighs a lot. A fairy's movement rate is reduced to 2/3rds of normal (Pounce 2/8, Frolic 4/4, Flutter 8/2). Most fairies don't like it, especially since it looks ugly.
Shields count as weapons in a fairy's inventory. They can still only have two total, unless somehow your fairy has three arms (the ones you had for breakfast don't count!). A fairy may only wear one piece of armor at a time, and it does not count as a weapon.
Miniatures
Star Wars Jedi and Sith figurines tend to make excellent fairies, usually because they wear robes. Light Sabers, in addition to being swords, can be broken off and made into wands, or bent and made into bows.
On the other hand, there are official miniatures available now, so why not get those? :)
Names
Scott Leaton made a cool name generator on the official Fairy Meat site. However, it uses JavaScript, which doesn't work everywhere. So I have a Perl version here. It's a little different than the original, and can generate 3 part names and clock-fairy names (from Clockwork Stomp).
Take a look at some regular fairy names, or clock-fairy names.
